Rob Thompson, 26, is the most talented and passionate Blues Rock export to come out of Port Elizabeth in the last ten years. A real triple threat as guitarist, singer and songwriter, Rob’s heart lies in performing blues rock music, as his energy and determination to play this genre of music and keep it alive is evident through his innovative, yet still vintage blues rock sound. This enthusiasm and dedication helped propel him towards his debut as an international blues artist. In 2011, having played guitar for only six years, at the age of 23 Rob completed his first tour of the USA, performing a number of shows across the country as well as touring with acclaimed American blues legend Ray Fuller, who invited Rob to play with his band, Ray Fuller and the Blues Rockers. During the tour Rob had the opportunity to perform at The Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis , a significant moment for him as a blues musician. While touring the USA Rob also played at a number of pubs, clubs and blues festivals, the most notable being The Canal Winchester Blues Festival in Ohio, during which the town’s mayor presented Rob with a key to the city. In addition to his international success, Rob has also performed at a number of South African music festivals and other venues with his bands, leaving audiences astounded with his wailing blues lines, entrancing stage presence and soulful guitar playing.
